Andrew is a Partner at the firm. He obtained an LLM (with Merit) in Commercial and Corporate Law from the University of London, United Kingdom, a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Uganda and Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University, Uganda. He has also pursued an English Solicitor Training Course from the Solicitor Regulation Authority in the UK. He is a member of The Law Society (England and Wales), International Bar Association, the East Africa Law Society and the Uganda Law Society.
He specializes in banking, finance and tax law. He also handles insurance, taxation, privatisation and de-regulation law, and all aspects of commercial litigation. Andrew heads the banking and finance department of the firm. He has experience in advising international and local clients on commercial transactions and complex commercial litigation.
He has acted for government and its institutions and agencies, as well as the private sector in Public and Private Partnerships, earning him a good understanding of private and public sector needs. He was seconded to Barclays Bank, Uganda, as a legal consultant to assist in the legal integration following Barclays’ acquisition of a financial institution.
He is presently recognized by IFLR1000 as one of the country’s leading lawyers in matters of Banking and Finance. He has been described as “experienced, dynamic to the business needs and also very engaging,” by Chambers Global; which has also ranked him as a leading General Business lawyer in Uganda. He was also a part-time instructor at the Law Development Centre, Uganda’s only postgraduate school for practical legal education.
