He has also facilitated professional training programmes in dispute resolution, litigation strategy, trial advocacy and case management equipping organisations and professionals with practical skills to effectively manage legal disputes.
• Successfully defended KDLB in the High Court in the matter where M&D Timber Merchants Limited challenged the reallocation of an industrial plot of land bin the Nakawa Industrial Area (Plot M2492/ Plot 30 Mukabia Road by our client KDLB, to HWANSUNG INDUSTRIES LIMITED, the Court held that considering the Public Land Act and the Land Reform Decree, the appellant did not have any interest in the land as such, the allocation was lawful. This suit clarified on the position of the law applicable to creation of interests in land in the period between the promulgation of the Constitution in 1995 and 1998 when the Land Act was passed.
• Represented Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Company Limited in a subrogation recovery for Ugx 438,000,000 lost due to robbery/ theft at Bank of Africa resulting from the defendant’s negligence. Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Company Limited paid the Ugx 438million to Bank of Africa and now sought to recover from the Defendant. Judgment entered in favour of Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Company Limited.
• Represented Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Company Limited who paid Pearl Dairy Farms Ltd a sum of USD 75240 following a claim of loss of goods in transit. The goods were stolen while under the control of Kalintunsi Uganda Ltd which had been contracted to transport them to Kenya. Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Company Limited sought to recover from the Defendant as a liable 3rd party. Default Judgment was entered in the sum of USD 75,240 and Ugx 4,052,600/ in favour of Jubilee Allianz General Insurance Company Limited.
• Represents various clients including banks and government entities in litigation matters. More particularly, Alex has represented UMEME, ESKOM in Electricity related claims, Public liability claims and right of way claims Kampala District Land Board in respect of various property related legal actions, banks like NCBA Bank and Orient Bank in relation to recovery actions as well high profile traders in relation to criminal litigation arising from the East African Customs Protocol.
• Advised and represented Al Gihaz Contracting Co. Africa in a mediation as Party Advisor against Stanbic Bank Uganda Ltd and Standard Chartered Bank (U) Limited.
• Represented Meridiana Africa Airlines (U) Ltd versus Avmax Spares (EA) Ltd. This matter involved a dispute between an air services provider and a supplier of new and refurbished aircraft parts regarding an Asset Transfer Agreement for the purchase of aviation equipment.
